Center for Women, Gender and Global Leadership Established at Howard University
The Center's academic focus will include producing innovative and theoretically grounded research and creating a data center on issues of women and gender in the United States and the global Black diaspora. J. Jarpa Dawuni, an associate professor of political science at the university, was named director of the new center.
In Memoriam: Yvonne Young Clark, 1929-2019
In 1956, Professor Clark joined the faculty at what was then Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial State University in Nashville. Clark retired as a professor emerita in 2011 at what is now Tennessee State University after serving on the faculty for 55 years.
U.S. News Issues New Rankings of the Nation’s Best HBCUs
The top five HBCUs remained the same as last year's ranking; Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia was first. This was the 12th year in a row that Spelman College has topped the U.S. News rankings for HBCUs. Spelman College and Howard University also climbed in the overall rankings.
