Dr. Phillips joined the National Louis University administration in 2021 as vice provost of academic programs and accreditation. One year later, he became the university's first Black provost and vice president of academic affairs. Now, he is slated to become the university's first Black president on August 1.
"I am ecstatic to contribute to GovState's vision and mission in partnership with a strong community of students, staff, faculty, and supportive community members," said Dr. Ester. "Together, we will continue to foster an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and inclusivity."
Dr. Ester was president of Kennedy-King College, one of the seven campuses of the City Colleges of Chicago. Before becoming president of Kennedy-King in 2011, she was associate vice president for student services at Bakersfield College in California.
Dr. Holmes was vice president of academic and student affairs at Kennedy-King College of the City Colleges of Chicago system. From 2009-13, she was vice president of academic affairs at Halifax Community College in Weldon, North Carolina.
