Dr. Wilkinson was a member of the University of Kentucky's first African American undergraduate class, graduating with a degree in sociology in 1958. Nine years later, she returned to her alma mater as the university's first Black woman to hold a full-time faculty position.

Stacy Gee Hollins was appointed interim associate provost of academic affairs at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis and Getiria Onsongo was granted tenure at Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota. Candis Watts Smith was named interim vice provost for undergraduate education at Duke University and Terrell Brown was appointed director of the master of social work degree program at Jackson State University in Mississippi.
A new study is examining how teachers are approaching the subjects of race and inequality with their students, particularly students in kindergarten to eighth grade. They found that in both urban and rural schools in the state of Minnesota, the issue of race was rarely brought up.
Dr. Anderson-Levy joins Macalester from Beloit College in Wisconsin, where she spent the past 13 years as a professor of anthropology. At Beloit, Professor Anderson-Levy served as associate dean of academic affairs and as chair of the department of anthropology.

Dr. Brown has been serving as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. Prior to his five-year tenure at Redlands, Dr. Brown served as a senior administrator at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
