Dr. Leiba has been selected to serve as interim president of the medical campus at his alma mater, Miami Dade College. He has been a faculty member with the college since 2010, most recently serving as dean of the School of Health Sciences.
Dr. McCollum recently served as vice president/senior associate vice provost for Miami Dade College Online. Earlier, Dr. McCollum served as dean of student affairs at Walden University.
Miami Dade College is one of the largest educational institutions in the country with enrollments of more than 51,000 students. Dr. Harrison has served as president of the North Campus of Miami Dade College since 2013 after being the dean of students at North Campus for over a decade.

The new appointees are Irish Spencer at Fayetteville State University, Walter McCollum at Miami Dade College, Monique Guillory at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Lamar R. Hylton at Kent State University, Eruore Oboh at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Rhonda Moses at Johnson C. Smith University.
The agreement allows any Miami Dade College student who receives an associate's degree in majors that align with Alabama State's curriculum to be accepted into the historically Black university's degree programs.
The board of trustees of Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens has appointed Castell Vaughn Bryant as acting president. The appointment was made when interim president Michelle Howard-Vital took an emergency medical leave.
Merrill Irving Jr. recently became president of the largest technical college in Minnesota serving 10,000 students at campuses in Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie. African Americans make up 21 percent of the student body.
Over the course of a long career in the academic world, Dr. Brown served as the inaugural chair of the department of chemistry at Albany State University in Georgia. He later taught at Miami Dade College and held administrative posts at Voorhees College and Florida Memorial University.
The inaugural Champions of Access and Success Award winners are Fayetteville State University, Florida State University, California State University, Northridge and Miami Dade College.
