According to the report, Black Americans are 1.5 to 2 times more likely to receive Social Security Disability Insurance, and spend roughly 40 percent more on medical care than White Americans.
The study of more than 2 million home sales from 1990 to 2008 in four major metropolitan areas studied prices by Blacks and Whites of comparable homes in the same neighborhoods. Blacks, on average, paid 3.5 percent more.
Research by C. Kiradbo Jackson of Northwestern University shows that students in these programs are more likely to succeed in college and in the job market.
