“Almost daily, since January 20, 2025, the federal government, at the direction the White House, has set fire to policies and entire departments dedicated to protecting civil and human rights, providing access to an equal education, fair housing, safe and effective healthcare, and ensuring that our democratic process is adhered to across the nation,” the report authors write.
Six decades after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the report identifies American sectors where inequality persists, areas of progress, and the actions President Biden has taken to advance racial equality in America.
The authors of the report conclude that the Pell Grant program needs to be greatly expanded to meet the financial needs of non-traditional students. Also, institutions must create a "culture of completion."
While broadband access to the Internet among Blacks has increased, much of the gain appears to be from an increased use of smartphones by African Americans.
