Byron Lars has been named the next Jane B. Nord Professor of Fashion Design at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and Michael Burton was named to a McDermott Professorship at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Here is this week’s roundup of African Americans who have been appointed to new administrative positions at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
Taking on new duties are Nsombi B. Ricketts at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, Renita Miller at Princeton University in New Jersey, Keith E. Hall at Azusa Pacific University in California, Neijma Celestine-Donnor at the University of Maryland, and Lisa Griffin at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
Two of five finalists for the award are African Americans with current affiliations at American universities. James Hannaham is an associate professor of humanities and media studies at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and Julie Iromuanya is an assistant professor of English and Africana literature at Arizona State University.
The Endowed Chair in Internet of Things Security was established by a $1 million grant from the Maryland Department of Commerce. The first holder of the endowed chair will be Kevin T. Kornegay, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Morgan State.
