A Trio of African American Women Who Are Taking on New Diversity Roles in Higher Education
Virginia Tech's Menah Pratt was named chair-elect for the Council on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities. Professor Gwendolyn D. Pough has been given the added duties as associate dean of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility at Syracuse University and Sekile M. Nzinga was appointed vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Six African American Scholars Appointed Deans at Colleges and Universities
The new deans are Robert N. Garner at Benedict College in South Carolina, T. Camille Martin-Thomsen at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Marvin Lynn at the University of Colorado Denver, Amani Jennings at Bowie State University in Maryland, Celeste M. Watkins-Hayes at the University of Michigan, and Mary M. White at South Carolina State University.
The Yale School of Art Has Selected Kymberly Pinder as Its New Leader
Kymberly Pinder, an internationally recognized scholar of race, representation, and murals, has been serving as acting president of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Earlier, she was dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico and a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
