Deidre Keller has stepped down from her role as dean of the Florida A&M University College of Law. Cecil Howard, who was recently appointed to associate vice provost for the historically Black college just weeks ago, will take on the dean's responsibilities until an interim dean is selected.

Since 2017, Carter has been president of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. She spent 25 years in leadership positions at The Juilliard School and later was executive vice president and university counsel at Eastern Kentucky University. She will begin her new duties on July 1.

In October 2019, Dr. Lumpkin was named chief operating officer at Saint Augustine's University. Previously, she served as the special assistant to the president, and as the inaugural executive director of student retention and the center for scholar communities at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lumpkin brings over 20 years of higher education experience to Saint Augustine's University. Dr. Jackson currently serves as president of Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota, a position he has held since 2014. He previously served as vice president for student affairs at both the University of Louisville and Texas A&M University Kingsville.

Dr. Palmer has been serving as an associate professor and interim chair of the department of educational leadership and policy studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He joined the Howard University faculty in 2015.

The new Ph.D. program in higher education leadership and policy studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C., will be focused on leadership of historically Black colleges and universities and other minority serving educational institutions.
