Currently, Dr. Jackson serves as president of Mississippi Delta Community College. He has over three decades of experience in higher education, previously holding leadership positions with Delta State University, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and Hinds Community College.
The agreement will allow students to earn an associate's degree at Southeast Arkansas College and a bachelor's degree at the historically Black University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff simultaneously. African Americans make up 57 percent of the student body at Southeast Arkansas College.
The historically Black university has received a grant from Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield to create the first endowed professorship at the university. Diann Williams, chair of the department of nursing at the university, will be the inaugural holder of the endowed chair.
