Daryl D. Green is the new dean of the School of Business at Langston University in Oklahoma. Shalei Simms has been named dean of the School of Business at the State University of New York at Old Westbury and Jelani Jefferson Exum has been appointed the next dean of St. Johns University School of Law in Queens, New York.
In Memoriam: Calvin Otis Butts III, 1949-2022
Calvin O. Butts was the long-time president of the State University of New York at Old Westbury, civil rights activist, and the pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. In 1999, Dr. Butts was named president of SUNY Old Westbury. He served in that role until 2020 and was the longest-serving president in university history.
Timothy Sams Will Be the Next President of SUNY Old Westbury
Dr. Sams currently serves as vice president of student affairs at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. Earlier in his career, Dr. Sams was senior vice president for student development at Morehouse College in Atlanta and vice president for student life at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
Calvin O. Butts III Announces Plans to Step Down as President of SUNY Old Westbury
Rev. Butts has led the university since 1999. He will go on study leave for the spring semester of 2020 and plans to return as professor of American Studies in the fall of 2020.
