Dr. Parker comes to her new role with nearly two decades of experience in higher education. Most recently, she served as associate vice president and executive dean for the College of Health Sciences at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.
Peggy Davis was in her 27th year with Virginia State University's department of athletics at the time of her passing. Throughout her career, she received several awards for her work in intercollegiate athletics, including the CIAA Athletic Director of the Year on seven separate occasions.
Dr. Carter began her career at Central Texas College 32 years ago as a receptionist. Most recently, she has served as deputy chancellor of finance and administration. When she takes office on July 1, she will be the first woman and the first African American to lead the college.
