In a new study, researchers at the University of California, Berkeley have found that Black women have accounted for more than one-fifth of all assault injuries among women in California over the past two decades. Across all ages, assault rates for Black women were 3.82 times higher than those of White women between 2005 and 2022.

Currently serving as a professor emerita at Michigan State University, Dr. Dodson has led the African Atlantic Research team for three decades. In this role, she has helped more than 75 students from underrepresented backgrounds pursue doctoral degrees.

Christopher Edley had an extensive career in both academia and public service. He served as a professor with Harvard Law School for 23 years and held senior advising roles for five presidential campaigns, including for his former student, Barack Obama.
