Dr. Emma Savage-Davis has been serving as dean for the College of Education, Leadership Studies and Counseling at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. She will begin her new duties on January 1.
Dr. Mickles had been serving as vice president of academics, students, and workforce development at Central Virginia Community College in Lynchburg. She will serve as interim president of Danville Community College while a search for a permanent president is conducted.
Students in the program will explore race-related questions and study the lives of Africans and people in the African diaspora. Africana studies combines a core intro class and a capstone project with existing courses from a variety of disciplines, including history, English, sociology, psychology, and music.
