Since February 2019, Dr. Akakpo has been president of Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington, Kentucky. Before becoming president of the community college, he was vice president for business, administrative, and student services at North Central State College in Mansfield, Ohio.
Dr. Gilbert currently serves as the senior vice provost for student academic excellence at Ohio State University. Prior to this position, Dr. Gilbert served for five years as the dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Toledo.
James S. Jackson was the Daniel Katz Distinguished University Professor of Psychology, Emeritus, at the University of Michigan. He also held appointments as a professor of Afro-American and African studies and as a research professor at the Institute for Social Research at the university.
Long currently serves as vice president of administration and finance for East Stroudsburg University, a position he has held for nearly seven years. Previously, Long served for five years as assistant vice president of administration and finance at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
Currently, Dr. Akakpo serves as vice president for business, administrative, and student services at North Central State College in Mansfield, Ohio. Earlier, he was director of financial planning and management and an adjunct faculty member at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
For the past 18 years, Dr. Early has been dean at the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toledo in Ohio. Earlier in his career, Dr. Early was an assistant professor of pharmacy at Florida A&M University.
Dr. Nave has been serving a professor in the College of Engineering and as director of faculty development and engagement at Prairie View &M University in Texas. From 2014 to 2017, she was provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Prairie View.
Joan R.M. Bullock has been serving as associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Law of Florida A&M University in Orlando, Florida. Earlier, in her career, Professor Bullock taught at the law schools of the University of Toledo in Ohio and Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Dr. Thompson joined the faculty at the University of Toledo in 1958. For four years, he was the only Black faculty member at the university. In 1968, Dr. Thompson was appointed vice president of student affairs, a post he held for 20 years.
The new deans are Amanda Bryant-Friedrich at the College of Graduate Studies of the University of Toledo in Ohio, Cheryl Easley at the College of Health Sciences at Alabama State University, and James D. Anderson at the College of Education of the University of Illinois.
For the current academic year, out-of-state tuition was just under $14,000. For students from Ohio, tuition was $6,246. Under the new tuition formula, the out-of-state surcharge will be reduced by 76 percent for most students entering this coming fall.
Roderick J. McDavis, president of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, has announced that he will step down at the end of the 2016-17 academic year. Dr. McDavis has been president of Ohio University since 2004.
John M. Rudley has served as the eleventh president of Texas Southern University in Houston since 2008. Earlier, he was interim chancellor of the University of Houston System and interim president of the University of Houston.
Christopher B. Howard, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, is president of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, one of the few all-male colleges in the United States.
