In Memoriam: Yvonne Kennedy, 1945-2012

Kennedy_YvonneYvonne Kennedy, an Alabama state representative and the former president of Bishop State Community College, died at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital on December 8. She was 67 years old.

Representative Kennedy was first elected to Alabama House of Representatives from her district in Mobile in 1979. She was a graduate of Alabama State University in Montgomery. She held a master’s degree from Morgan State University in Baltimore and a doctorate from the University of Alabama. She also served as president of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

A scholarship in her name has been established at Alabama State University.
