Honors and Awards

Gilbert L. Rochon, president of Tuskegee University in Alabama, was named Man of the Year by the Gamma Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Dr. Rochon has a bachelor’s degree in English from Xavier University of New Orleans. He holds a master’s degree from the Yale University School of Medicine and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Sylvester Neal, president of Kiwanis International, was designated as the winner of the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Alumni Association.
