The Black Alumni Group at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale has established a new scholarship program. The alumni group will offer money to undergraduate and graduate students who need help to buy textbooks.
The Black Alumni Group has a stated goal of helping the administration in increasing Black student retention and graduation rates and providing funds for textbooks may help some Black students stay in school.
