Claflin University Named to List of “Cutting Edge Music Education Programs”

Claflin University, the historically Black educational institution in Orangeburg, South Carolina, was recently named to the list of “10 Cutting Edge College Music Education Programs” by College Magazine. Claflin University is the only HBCU to be included on the list.

The other nine colleges and universities with cutting edge music education programs are: Johns Hopkins University, Berklee College of Music, University of the Pacific, University of Redlands, Indiana University, Florida State University, University of Colorado, University of Wisconsin, and the University of Michigan.

Claflin University was commended for “its comprehensive coursework, clinical experience and world-renowned faculty for preparing the next generation of professional musicians and educators.” The bachelor’s degree in music education at Claflin University is designed for students who plan to teach music in levels K-12. It also prepares students to pursue graduate studies in music education and performing areas including piano, vocal, or instrumental music.
