Donald Comer Named Interim President of Lane College in Tennessee

Donald W. Comer has been selected to serve as interim president of Lane College. He will assume his new role on August 1.

Lane College is a historically Black undergraduate college in Jackson, Tennessee. The institution enrolls over 1,000 students, 78 percent of whom are Black.

Dr. Comer brings over three decades of professional experience to his new role. He has been an executive with FedEx for the past 35 years, holding various positions in data analytics, marketing, finance, strategic planning, and project management. He most recently served as the company’s vice president for decision science & analytics and operations analysis.

In addition to his professional background, Dr. Comer has extensive experience as an advocate for HBCUs and African American business education. He currently serves on the board of trustees for Stillman College in Alabama and LeMoyne-Owen College in Tennessee. He previously spent nine years as chairman of the board for the National Black MBA Association.

Dr. Comer holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee at Martin, an MBA from the University of Memphis, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from historically Black Jackson State University in Mississippi.
