Howard University in Washington, D.C. was ranked second, Florida A&M University and Tuskegee University tied for third, and Morehouse College was fifth. Top-ranked HBCU Spelman College tied for 40th best liberal arts college in the country, down from 39th last year. Howard University tied for the 86th best national university, up from 115th place last year.
