The College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Georgia Southwestern State University Names a New Leader

Courtney Ross has been appointed dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. He will also serve as the inaugural Sandra Daniel Endowed Chair.

Currently, Dr. Ross serves as dean of nursing and chief nurse administrator at St. Paul’s School of Nursing in Staten Island, New York. He also teaches as a virtual faculty member at Walden University College of Nursing. Prior to his current role, he was dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions and interim vice president of academic affairs at Baltimore City Community College in Maryland. Throughout his career, his academic pursuits have centered around advancing nursing education through evidence-based practices and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Dr. Ross is an alumnus of Georgia Southwestern State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology. He holds a master’s degree in nursing from Augusta University in Georgia, a second master’s degree in biomedical science from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a doctorate in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.
