Voorhees University Establishes Graduate Pathway Partnership With Des Moines University

Voorhees University, a historically Black institution in Denmark, South Carolina, has formed a new partnership with Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences in Iowa that will open the door for Voorhees students to earn graduate degrees in several different health science disciplines.

Through the new agreement, Voorhees students who meet Des Moines University’s admissions requirements will receive guaranteed interviews for doctoral programs in biomedical sciences, physical therapy, podiatric medicine, and osteopathic medicine, as well as master’s degree programs in anatomy, biomedical sciences, and physician assistant studies. Additionally, undergraduate students at Voorhees can earn credits concurrently for Des Moines University’s doctor of occupational therapy, master of health care administration, and master of public health degree programs.

Going forward, Des Moines University will reserve one seat annually for a Voorhees student in the university’s doctor of occupational therapy program and the Health Professions Advanced Summer Scholars Program, an initiative to prepare undergraduate students for graduate education in medicine or health sciences.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to providing Voorhees students with exceptional opportunities for academic and professional growth,” says Voorhees University President Ronnie Hopkins. “By collaborating with DMU, we are empowering our students to pursue careers in health professions that will not only enhance their futures but also contribute to improving the well-being of communities nationwide.”
