Charles R. Drew University Opens the Door for Students to Pursue Doctorates in Pharmacy

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in California (CDU) has formed a new alliance with Chapman University in Orange, California, that will open the door for students to pursue graduate degrees in pharmacy.

Effective immediately, students who complete CDU’s biomedical sciences program can now receive a guaranteed application interview for the doctor of pharmacy degree program at the Chapman University School of Pharmacy. They will also have a higher chance of admission based on GPA and completion of prerequisites, as well as opportunities to apply for scholarships.

Furthermore, the new partnership will facilitate collaborative projects between the two Southern California-based institutions, including exchange programs, research opportunities, and professional development initiatives for faculty and students.

“This partnership reflects CDU’s mission to cultivate diverse health professionals
committed to addressing healthcare inequities,” said Dr. José A. Torres-Ruiz, CDU provost
and executive vice president of academic affairs. “By collaborating with Chapman
University School of Pharmacy, we are providing our students with enhanced opportunities
to advance their careers and make meaningful contributions to underserved communities.”
