Wilfred J. Germain has been appointed director of the public safety department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College within the City University of New York system. He comes to his new role from Democracy Prep Network, where he was director of security and school safety for 15 charter school campuses across Harlem and the Bronx.
Germaine is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in security management at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Marcus Jones has been named university chaplain at historically Black Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. He most recently served as director of UTA Wesley, a United Methodist campus ministry at the University of Texas at Austin. Earlier, he was executive director of the Wesley Foundation and the MOSAIC Cross-Cultural Center at Midwestern State University.
Jones is an alumnus of Huston-Tillotson University, where he majored in business management with a minor in marketing. He holds a master of divinity degree in Black church studies from Southern Methodist University.
Rachel Jefferson has been appointed deputy chief of support services for the Johns Hopkins University Police Department. She recently served as deputy chief for the City of Bowie Police Department in Maryland, where she was the department’s first woman to be promoted from officer to commander. Previously, she worked for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C.
Jefferson received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and her master’s degree in human services with a concentration in counseling from the University of Maryland.
Denise Sherman has been named director of the Center for Management Development and Executive Education at the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University in Kansas. For the past six years, she has served as executive director of the Kansas African American Museum. She previously held leadership roles at Southwestern College and what is now WSU Tech.
Sherman is an alumna of Wichita State University, where she majored in business administration. She holds an MBA and a master’s degree in business management from Webster University and a master’s degree in organizational development from Friends University.
Marriel C. Hardy has been named the associate vice president of marketing and communication at historically Black Alcorn State University in Mississippi. He comes to his new role from another HBCU, Talladega College in Alabama, where he was vice president of communications and marketing.
Hardy earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and a master’s degree in workforce educational leadership from Alcorn State University.
