Shannon McGhee has been named chief of staff for community relations and student advancement at Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her background in academia includes past leadership roles with West Virginia State University, Helms College in Georgia, and Mercer University in Georgia. Most recently, she served as vice president of education and development at Gulfsteam Goodwill Industries in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Dr. McGhee received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mercer University, where she later earned her Ph.D. in educational leadership. She also holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
Derreck Niec-Williams has been promoted to assistant vice president for planning and architecture in the Office of Real Estate Development and Capital Asset Management at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He most recently served as the university’s executive director of campus planning, architecture, and development.
Niec-Williams received his bachelor’s degree in architecture and design from Howard University.
William Evers has been named deputy chief of police at Florida A&M University. With over two decades of experience in law enforcement, he has previously served with the Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Highway Patrol, the Leon County Schools Policy Department, and the FAMU Police Department.
Evers holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Detrich Hebert has been appointed director of human resources at Dillard University in Louisiana. She has held several key leadership roles with the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, including chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer and deputy chief of human resources and labor relations.
Herbert is a graduate of Dillard University, where she majored in accounting. She holds a juris doctorate from Southern University Law Center and an MBA in human resources management from the University of New Orleans.
Barry McCauley has been appointed assistant vice chancellor for corporate and foundation relations at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. He brings more than 15 years of experience to his new role, including service as vice president of institutional advancement at Barber-Scotia College in North Carolina. Earlier, he was executive vice president of Perkins Management Services Company.
McCauley holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and a master’s degree in sports management from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
