Mark Johnson has been named the tenth president of Louisiana Christian University in Pineville.
According to the most recent federal data, Louisiana Christian University enrolls about 800 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students. Black students represent 26 percent of the undergraduate population.
Dr. Johnson comes to his new role from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he is an assistant professor of evangelism and pastoral ministries and director of the doctor of ministry division. He previously served as pastor of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and as chaplain for the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) baseball team. His first book, Black Church White Convention: A Pastor’s Story of Hope (B&H Academic), is set for publication in June.
Dr. Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. He earned two master’s degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in evangelism with a minor church leadership.
