Darnell Williams Named Eighth President of North Central University in Minnesota

Darnell K. Williams, Sr. has been appointed as the eighth president of North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He will assume his presidency at the end of the current spring semester.

According to the most recent federal data, North Central University enrolls nearly 900 undergraduate and more than 100 graduate students. Black students represent 10 percent of the undergraduate student body.

In 2022, Dr. Williams joined the North Central University faculty as an associate professor of pastoral studies. He also currently serves as executive director of the Preaching Institute for City Transformation. Prior to his current role, he spent nearly 30 years as a lead pastor with churches in Columbus, Ohio, and Lima, Ohio.

Dr. Williams is the author of two books, including Wings to Rise – Blacks, Leadership and the Assemblies of God (2020). His scholarly interests center around practical leadership principles, the multiethnic church, and addressing obstacles to those engaged in urban ministry.

Dr. Williams received his bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry from Holmes Bible College in Greenville, South a Carolina, master’s degree in business management from Regent University in Virginia, and a doctor of ministry degree from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri.
