Trina Fletcher has joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as the associate dean for the School of Arts and Sciences and an associate professor of engineering and industrial technology, management, and applied engineering. Her appointment marks a return to the historically Black university, where she previously taught as an assistant professor. Most recently, she served as an associate professor in the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University.
Dr. Fletcher is an alumna of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she majored in industrial technology. She holds a master’s degree in operations management from the University of Arkansas, a second master’s degree in engineering management from George Washington University, and a Ph.D. in engineering education from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Courtney J. Patterson-Faye was promoted to associate professor of sociology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. In addition to her primary appointment, she is affiliated with the African American studies program. Her research is situated at the intersection of Black feminism, fat studies, and cultural studies. She is the author of The Body Contract: Black Women, Culture, and the Impossibilities of Fatness, forthcoming from New York University Press.
Dr. Patterson-Faye is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
Maruice Mangum has been appointed associate dean of the Bloomfield College of Montclair State University in New Jersey. He comes to his new role from Jackson State University, a historically Black educational institution in Mississippi, where he has been serving as chair of the department of political science. He previously taught at Alabama A&M University and Texas Southern University, both of which are historically Black institutions.
Dr. Mangum holds three degrees in political science: a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, a master’s degree from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University.
