Namibia to Offer Tuition-Free Higher Education in 2026

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the first woman president of Namibia, has announced her administration will offer free higher education at state-run colleges and universities beginning in 2026, according to a report from The Associated Press.

There are currently seven universities in Namibia, two of which are state-run and will become completely subsidized by the government next year. There are also seven vocational training centers throughout the country. All vocational colleges are government-run and will no longer charge tuition fees.

The Republic of Namibia has roughly 3 million citizens, with around 2.1 million Namibians under the age of 35.
