Voorhees University Establishes New Exchange Partnership With Salale University in Ethiopia

Voorhees University in Denmark, South Carolina, has recently signed an agreement with Salale University in Ethiopia and the Center for Excellence for Education Preparation and Innovation (EPI Center) – an independent nonprofit located on the Voorhees University campus. The trilateral agreement will open the door for new academic, professional development, and community engagement opportunities for the institutions’ students, faculty, and staff.

In addition to leaders from the partnering institutions, Refocus Africa, a pan-African organization dedicated to maximizing potential across the continent, played a key role in facilitating the agreement. The organization provides resources and supports global initiatives relating to agriculture, clean water, energy, housing, education, sports, training, and business development.

Voorhees University, Salale University, and the EPI Center have committed to collaborate on joint academic programs and exchanges, collaborative research and publications, community-based projects and global service learning, professional development for faculty and staff, and innovative educator preparation programs.

“This agreement not only symbolizes a bridge between continents, but affirms our shared belief in the power of education to uplift communities, advance knowledge, and inspire future generations,” said Voorhees President Ronnie Hopkins. “Through this partnership, Voorhees University deepens its investment in global impact and marks a new chapter in its international engagement strategy.”
