Charles R. Drew University Establishes New Partnership With American University of Antigua

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, one of four historically Black medical schools in the country, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA).

Under the new agreement, eligible CDU graduates have guaranteed admission into AUA’s medical degree program. The partnership also provides CDU students with a variety of benefits, such as an expedited admission timeline, waived application fees, and eligibility for AUA’s $10,000 Preferred Program Grant and other scholarship opportunities.

“This agreement creates new opportunities for our students by expanding the options available to them once they complete their studies at CDU,” said José Torres-Ruiz, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at CDU. “It also strengthens our global perspective, giving students the chance to connect their training to health disparities and social determinants of health not only locally and nationally, but across the world.”

Joshua Stagner, vice president of admissions, marketing, and alumni at AUA, stated, “We are honored to partner with Charles R. Drew University, an institution that shares our commitment to equity, opportunity, and student success. Together, we will provide students with the support and resources to become compassionate physicians who reflect the communities they serve.”
