Robert N. Corley III is the New Provost of Elizabeth City State University

Robert N. Corley III has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Elizabeth City State University, a historically Black educational institution in North Carolina.

Most recently, Dr. Corley served as a senior advisor to the president of another HBCU, Virginia State University. He previously served in several roles at Virginia State, including vice provost for academic and student affairs, associate vice provost for graduate programs, and dean of the College of Agriculture.

Prior to Virginia State, Dr. Corley spent more than a decade on the faculty at historically Black Tuskegee University in Alabama. As a scholar, his work spans animal and human health, nutrition, leadership development, and academic innovation.

Dr. Corley earned both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in animal and poultry science from Tuskegee University. He received his doctorate in animal sciences from the University of Illinois, where he specialized in nutrition and biological and mathematical modeling.
