Terence L. Finley Appointed President of Corning Community College in New York

Terence L. Finley has been named the eighth president of Corning Community College in New York. His presidency is scheduled to start on January 2.

A member of the State University of New York System, Corning Community College enrolls over 3,600 students. 3 percent of whom are Black.

With over two decades of experience in corporate and higher education settings, Dr. Finley has been serving as vice president and chief operating officer of historically Black Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, Missouri. Earlier, he worked for another HBCU, Prairie View A&M University in Texas, where he was assistant vice president for business services and interim associate vice president for auxiliary enterprises. Prior to entering the academic world, he held executive roles at Intel and NVIDIA.

“I have dedicated the last 15 years to higher education, championing the principles of access, adequacy, and equity for under-served, under-represented, under-resourced, and in some cases under-prepared student populations,” said Dr. Finley. “My deep commitment to educational excellence is underscored by my unwavering belief in the transformative power of education to drive societal change, elevate communities, and create long-term impact through student success.”

Dr. Finley earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and economics from the State University of New York at Brockport. He holds an MBA in marketing and logistics from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership with an emphasis on higher education from Prairie View A&M University.
