Drake State Community & Technical College Offers Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program With Boeing

Historically Black Drake State Community & Technical College in Huntsville, Alabama, has partnered with Boeing to launch a new apprenticeship program to prepare local community members for careers in defense and advanced manufacturing.

Housed on the Drake State campus, the Boeing Technical Apprenticeship Program is a one-to-three month initiative offering three pathways: assembly mechanics, solder, and quality. Participating students are considered Boeing employees and will receive pay and benefits during the program. Graduates who successfully complete the apprenticeship will receive industry-recognized certifications and the opportunity to convert to full-time employment.

“Drake State welcomes this partnership and the apprenticeship program to our campus,” said Patricia Sims, president of Drake State. “The program expands our work of building economic pathways for our community members and ensuring that the growth of the advanced manufacturing sector reflects and includes the people of Huntsville.”
