Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, has announced a new dual enrollment program that will allow eligible local high school students to begin working toward a nursing degree while completing their high school diploma.
The HBCU will consider students from Florida’s Volusia, Flagler, Putnam, and St. Johns counties for the program’s inaugural cohort in Fall 2027. Up to 10 high school students will complete the first 24 credit hours toward the university’s nursing curriculum online through B-CU Global. After their high school graduation, these students will be prepared to begin clinical coursework once they arrive at the Daytona Beach campus, allowing them to complete their bachelor of science in nursing degree in just three years.
Beginning in the upcoming Fall 2026 semester, affiliates from Bethune-Cookman’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences will host monthly workshops and campus visits to introduce local high school sophomores to the dual enrollment opportunity. Beyond the cost of textbooks, there is no tuition expense for participating in the program.
