Three Black Administrators Appointed to New Roles in Higher Education

Lindsey Hunter is the inaugural vice president for strategic enrollment management at Langston University in Oklahoma. Hunter comes to the HBCU from Oakton College in Illinois, where she was director of enrollment services. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles at Emory University, Clark Atlanta University, and Chicago Public Schools.

Hunter is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, where she majored in theater and drama. She holds a master’s degree in higher education leadership and policy studies from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

LaShaunda Reese has been appointed associate director for continuing education and enrichment in the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana. Dr. Reese has been serving as a senior clinical ethicist at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. She has also taught as an adjunct professor of religion and ethics at Morehouse College. As a scholar, Dr. Reese studies the intersection of narratives and decision-making, particularly within Black and African diasporic communities and in the context of health and healthcare.

An Xavier alumna, Dr. Reese holds a master’s degree in ethics and a Ph.D. in theological ethics from Loyola University Chicago as well as a second master’s degree in theological studies from Emory University.

Darrell L. Farewell was named chief financial officer and vice president of finance at Salem Academy and College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Farewell comes to his new role from Wake Forest University, where he most recently served as director of capital planning. Earlier in his tenure at the university, he was executive director of finance and administration for the School of Business.

Farewell is a graduate of the College of Charleston in South Carolina, where he majored in history. He holds an MBA in corporate finance from Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania.
