Roderick E. Richardson, a budget analyst at the University of Maryland College Park for nearly 30 years, died on August 1 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland. He was 63 years old and had suffered from progressive supranuclear palsy.
A native of Baltimore, Richardson was the son of a city firefighter and a mother who was a state highway toll collector. He graduated from Mount St. Jospeh High School in Irvington, Maryland, and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University in Baltimore.
After college, Richardson took a job with the accounting firm Peat, Marwick. In 1979, he was appointed auditor for the Bank of Baltimore. In 1986, Richardson joined the staff at the University of Maryland as a budget analyst. He retired from his position in 2015 due to ailing health.
