Xavier University, the historically Black educational institution in New Orleans, was presented with the Centennial Medal from Catholic Charities USA. The university was honored for its commitment to racial equality in higher education.
The medal commemorating Catholic Charities first 100 years, recognizes the valuable contributions of individuals and organizations that work to reduce poverty in the United States. Rev. Larry Snyder, president and CEO of Catholic Charities USA, said that “as one of the only historically Black Catholic universities, Xavier University exemplifies the critical role that access to education plays in eliminating poverty.”
