Three African American Men Who Are Assuming New Administrative Posts at Universities

Cletis Earle was appointed senior vice president and chief information officer for the central Pennsylvania-based health system and the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He was senior vice president and chief information officer for Kaleida Health/Great Lake’s Health of Western New York.

Earle holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of New Rochelle in New York, and a master’s degree in information systems from Strayer University in Washington, D.C.

Sherwin E. James was promoted to director of the Center of Advising and Retention at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. He was serving as associate director of operations. James joined the staff at Clayton State in 2008 after serving as the student success counselor at South Georgia State College in Douglas, Georgia.

James earned a bachelor’s degree in management and human resources and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at the University of Idaho.

Marlon C. Lynch will serve as the inaugural chief safety officer at the University of Utah. Lynch, is currently senior vice president for campus services and safety at New York University. He will begin his new job on February 1.

Lynch previously was the associate vice president for safety and security and civic affairs at the University of Chicago. He is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from Boston University.
