Alcorn State University to Offer a Summer Enrichment Program for K-12 Students

Alcorn State University, the historically Black educational institution in Mississippi, has partnered with the Children’s Defense Fund to offer a Freedom School for 50 students this summer. Students from southwestern Mississippi will come to the Alcorn campus for a summer enrichment program that will focus on reading skills, learning attitudes, and boosting self-esteem.

M. Christopher Brown II, president of Alcorn State University, stated, “The Alcorn Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School will enrich the lives of students living near us.
