Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Wins the Nelson Mandela Award

Historically Black Lincoln University of Pennsylvania was presented with the Nelson Mandela Award by the South African ambassador to the United States. The award is given to individuals and organizations that have promoted freedom in South Africa.

In accepting the award at the South African embassy in Washington, Lincoln University president Robert R. Jennings stated, “We are proud of the fact that we’ve played a small part in producing some of the individuals who have the conscience, the foresight, and the stick-to-it-ive-ness to do what is right. We’ve chosen to do so because we believe that the struggle continues and we must play a viable part in helping to be part of the solution to help in that struggle.”

President Jennings also confirmed that Lincoln University will open a branch campus in Cape Town, South Africa.
