Vivian L. Gadsden was named c0-editor of the scholarly journal Educational Researcher, published by the American Educational Research Association. The journal publishes scholarly articles of theoretical, methodological, or policy interest to those engaged in educational policy analysis, evaluation, and decision making. It is a multidisciplinary journal and considers original research from multiple disciplines, theoretical orientations, and methodologies. The journal is considered among the world’s most important publications for educational research and has the highest impact factor, meaning its articles are cited by researchers in the field more often than those of any other journal. Dr. Gadsden’s co-editor will be Carolyn Herrington of Florida State University.
Dr. Gadsden is the William T. Carter Professor of Child Development and Education and director of the National Center on Fathers and Families at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. She joined the faculty at Penn in 1988 after teaching at Wayne State University in Detroit.
A graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, Professor Gadsden earned an educational doctorate at the University of Michigan.
