Black Student Dominates Awards at Graduation Ceremony of Lehman College

Earlier this month Olu Onemola, a native of Nigeria, earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at Lehman College of the City University of New York. His father is Nigeria’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations.

Onemola was awarded the Jacob Hammer Memorial Prize in English, which is awarded to a leading student in theater performance. He won the Edgar Dawson Prize in Political and Legal Theory, given to the student with the strongest portfolio of political and legal essays. Onemola was the winner of the CUNY Vice Chancellor’s Excellence in Leadership Award.

Onemola received honors as a cum laude graduate, won the Golden Key award of the International Honor Society, and was inducted into the Pi Sigma Society and the National Honour Society in Political Science.
