Tennessee State University Names Three Interim Deans

Tennessee State University, the historically Black educational institution in Nashville, has announced the appointment of three interim deans.

Stephanie Coursey Bailey was named interim dean of the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs at Tennessee State. She has served most recently as chief of public health for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.

Dr. Bailey is a graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned her M.D. from the Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.

James A. Ellzy was appointed interim dean of the College of Business. He has served on the Tennessee State faculty for 37 years and currently is a full professor and chair of the department of business information systems.

Heraldo V. Richards is the new interim dean of the College of Education at Tennessee State. He joined the Tennessee State faculty in 2008 after teaching at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.

A graduate of the University of Chicago, Dr. Richards, holds a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in learning disabilities from Northwestern University.
