Kyle Farmbry Will Be the Tenth President of Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina

Kyle Farmbry, a scholar of entrepreneurial development and global education, will be the tenth president of Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. When Dr. Farmbry takes office on January 1, he will be the first African American to serve as the college’s president.

“I am thrilled to join Guilford, and engage with the students, faculty, staff, and alumni in leveraging the college’s foundation of liberal arts education, Quaker discernment, and commitment to social equity for the wellbeing of local, national, and international communities,” Dr. Farmbry stated

Guilford College enrolls slightly more than 1,400 students, almost all undergraduates. African Americans make up 25 percent of the student body, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Dr. Farmbry has been serving as a professor of public administration in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University in Newark. Earlier, he was dean of the Graduate School at Rutgers-Newark. His current research interest lies at the intersection of academia and private and independent sector entrepreneurial development.

Dr. Farmbry holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, a master of public administration degree, and a Ph.D. in public administration from George Washington University. In 2013, Dr. Farmbry earned a juris doctorate from the Rutgers University School of Law.
