Racist graffiti was found in men’s restrooms in a residence hall and the athletic field house on the campus of Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. The messages contained threats that were targeted for Saturday, February 12, but no incidents occurred on that date. Hateful graffiti including a swastika had been found on several occasions in the past month at the college.
Milton police and the college’s department of public safety increased surveillance and staffing on the campus and adopted other strategies to protect students, according to a statement from college officials. “We have been aggressive in sharing information about these incidents with our community so that we can work collectively to assure a safe environment.”
Curry College enrolls about 2,200 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 14 percent of the undergraduate student body.
