George Timmons Selected to Serve as President of Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts

George Timmons has been selected to serve as the next president of Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts. He will take office in late June.

Holyoke Community College enrolls just over 3,700 students according to the most recent statistics available from the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 6 percent of the student body.

Since 2019, Dr. Timmons has been serving as provost and senior vice president of academic and student affairs at Columbia Greene Community College in Hudson, New York. Earlier, he was dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Excelsior College in Albany, New York.

Timmons holds a bachelor’s degree in financial management from Norfolk State University in Virginia. He earned a master’s degree in higher education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
