A Milestone Appointment at Clemson University

Juan E. Gilbert was appointed to the Presidential Endowed Chair in Human-Centered Computing at Clemson University in South Carolina. He is the first African American scholar at Clemson to be honored with the appointment to an endowed chair.

Dr. Gilbert is chair of the Division of Human-Centered Computing and professor of automotive engineering at Clemson. He is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Cincinnati.

Professor Gilbert has taught at Clemson since 2009. Previously, he taught at Auburn University from 2000 to 2009.
