Michael McFrazier to Serve as Provost at Prairie View A&M University

Michael L. McFrazier has been appointed interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Prairie View A&M University in Texas.

Currently dean of the Whitlowe R. Green College of Education at the university, Dr. McFrazier has held a number of senior leadership positions over his 25-year tenure at Prairie View A&M University — including associate provost and associate vice president for academic affairs, vice provost for academic affairs and dean of the Northwest Houston Center, vice president for administration and chief of staff, and most recently interim president.

Dr. McFrazier began his professional career as a public school teacher and administrator in the Waco Independent School District. He joined the faculty at Prairie View A&M in 1998.

Professor McFrazier holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and two master’s degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He earned a doctorate in educational administration at the University of Arkansas.

    This person may be interested in seeking a college presidency. He certainly appears to have the requisite experience that we are looking for, having served in several administrative positions at an HBCU.
